Former Minneapolis police officers, Chris and Karina Kelley, speak with journalist, Deena Winter, who writes for the Minnesota Reformer News. Ms. Winter has been a journalist for over thirty years and started her career in a small border town in North Dakota. Ms. Winter in an investigative reporter who primarily writes about local government, city hall, crime and police.
Ms. Winter talked to us about some interesting small town crime stories as well as issues she's encountered trying to cover the Minneapolis Police Department; we spoke about recent crime issues, crime strategies, the newly installed police chief, cultural police change, recruiting/retention, leadership failures, mayoral and city council intervention, and the diversity of officers on patrol.
